NitroSynapsin ameliorates hypersynchronous neural network activity in Alzheimer hiPSC models
Swagata Ghatak and Stuart Lipton report AD neuronal cultures and organoids demonstrate increased spontaneous action potentials, slow oscillatory events, and hypersynchronous network activity. The NMDAR antagonist NitroSynapsin relieves the hyperactivity. This novel model of synaptic plasticity for disease modeling neural networks may be useful for screening drugs to treat hyperexcitability and related synaptic damage in AD using the Maestro MEA System.

A dopamine-induced gene expression signature regulates neuronal function and cocaine response
Dopamine-induced gene expression plays a key role in shaping cellular and physiological adaptations to drugs of abuse. Researchers in the Day lab at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, identified specific medium spiney neuron (MSN) subpopulations altered by cocaine experience as a result of dopamine-induced gene expression.

IGF-1 treatment causes unique transcriptional response in neurons from individuals with idiopathic autism

Human models for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have established insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) as one of the most promising ASD therapeutic interventions to date. Researchers in the Marchetto lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies have demonstrated that IGF-1 treatment has a different impact on neurons from ASD patients compared to controls.

Modeling Secondary Iron Overload Cardiomyopathy with Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes
The Wu lab at Stanford used Axion's MEA data to help reveal that increasing iron overload in iPSC-CMs resulted in a corresponding prolongation of field potential duration (FPD). These results support clinical features of iron overload cardiomyopathy.

Right-click to Copy Beat or Spike Waveform Plots and Data

The beat waveform and spike waveform plot have two copy options. To copy the entire well image, right-click anywhere on the plot and select Copy Well Plot. To copy a single electrode, right-click on the electrode and select Copy Electrode Waveform. This copies both the electrode image as well as the time and voltage values used to generate the image. To paste the electrode image, right-click to select Paste Special and choose the image option. When pasting the data samples, the first column contains the time in seconds, and the remaining columns list the voltage values associated with each time sample for the displayed spikes or beat.  Learn more about AxIS software here.
